The aim of this activity is to ensure targeted AGYW and other members of their community use free national helpline number 117 to call and receive counseling and information on different health-related issues including Risk Behaviors/Safer Sex, HTS, SRH, GBV, FP, HIV Prevention, HIV disclosure, and Adherence to ARVs Treatment.
The program team conducted promotion of 117 in the community through peer educators during interpersonal led sessions and each reached beneficiaries have to call 117 to ask different questions related to health issues.
These services of receiving calls from different AGYW and ABYM is provided at TAYOA headquarter with qualified counselors (Social workers and Doctors) who are trained well on how to talk to clients and provide a good customer service.
Helpline councilors work from 12:00 noon to 23:00am at night. A number of questions are raised during helpline calls;
AGYW asked many questions on
1) Is it possible for AGYW under 18 to go for HIV testing without parental consent?
2) What are the advantages, types and effects of family planning?
3) Can you get pregnant during your period?
4) How is HIV transmitted? All questions were well responded by counselors.
